History

The ESMI - founded 2005

The initial aims of creating an interdisciplinary scientific European MI society was

  • to ensure sustainability of the achievements and co-operations within the first large EU-funded Molecular Imaging research projects: Diagnostig Molecular Imaging DiMIand European Molecular Imaging Laboratories EMIL.
  • and to create one strong, science-driven, interdisciplinary forum that advocates imaging science in Europe.

The coordinators of the FP7 European Research projects Andreas Jacobs (DiMI) and Bertrand Tavitian (EMIL) and the project partners have been the driving forces of the ESMI.Bertrand and Andreas became first and second ESMI President.

In 2010 the project periods of the networks ended and the ESMI has succeeded in establishing an independent structure. But we need you to further extend our actions, to advocate imaging science, and to establish a strong, interdisciplinary, and innovative Imaging Community become an ESMI member
